SECI and AAI Sign MoU to Install Rooftop Solar Systems Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the installation of grid-connected rooftop solar power systems across various AAI buildings. The MoU was signed on June 11, 2025, in New Delhi.

The agreement is part of the Government of India’s flagship initiative — PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana — aimed at accelerating the adoption of clean energy solutions nationwide. The collaboration seeks to promote sustainable energy practices within the aviation sector, reduce reliance on conventional power sources, and contribute to India’s broader targets for expanding solar capacity and achieving net-zero emissions.

By leveraging the extensive infrastructure of AAI’s airports and buildings, the initiative is expected to not only reduce the aviation sector’s carbon footprint but also support the government’s vision of a self-reliant and environmentally sustainable energy future.

The signing of this MoU underscores the government’s continued commitment to scaling up renewable energy deployment across diverse sectors of the economy in pursuit of its climate goals.
