German waste treatment company Koster has inaugurated its plant in San Nazzaro Sesia, near Milan in northern Italy.
The plant will treat around 60,000 tonnes per year of organic waste and feeds around 700 standard cubic metres of biomethane, that is ’99.9%’ pure, per hour into the grid.
The infrastructure includes an internal refuelling station, for vehicles running on LNG and CNG, and modern technology which reduces odour emissions and treatment costs.
CEO Constanza Borda said the plant marked a “turning point” for the company and consortium municipalities that deliver waste to the plant, which also produces 50,000 tonnes of compost.
