ib vogt Secures PHP 4.49 Billion (USD 80 Million) Green Financing From HSBC To Power Renewable Projects In Southern Philippines

International solar developer “ib vogt” has announced that it has reached financial close for its Tantangan solar power project in the Philippines. The project has secured PHP 4.49 billion (approximately USD 80 million) in green financing from HSBC, which will support the development and construction of a 99 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in South Cotabato. This project is set to play an important role in delivering affordable and renewable electricity to the region, contributing to the Philippines’ national clean energy transition goals.

This marks ib vogt’s second solar development in Mindanao. Construction of the project began in the first quarter of 2025, with the power plant expected to be fully commissioned by the second quarter of 2026. Once operational, the Tantangan solar facility will generate over 150 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity each year—enough to meet the energy needs of more than 82,000 households. The project will also help avoid more than 66,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, making a significant impact in terms of environmental benefits.

The financing provided by HSBC through a green loan facility has been a key enabler for the project. This collaboration reflects the continued partnership between ib vogt and major global financial institutions that are committed to supporting climate-positive investment initiatives across Asia. The backing of HSBC ensures that the project moves forward efficiently and sets a strong example for renewable energy financing in the region.

David Ludwig, CEO of ib vogt APAC, said in a statement, “This project is especially meaningful to us, as it is our second power plant in Mindanao supporting the local community and the regional economy. We are very happy about our partnership with HSBC to jointly enable this project and make this contribution to the energy transition in the Philippines.”

The Tantangan project is part of ib vogt’s expanding solar development pipeline in the Philippines, where the company currently has more than 1,000 MWp of capacity in active development. The country is considered a strategic priority market for ib vogt in Asia. With this latest milestone, the company reinforces its long-term commitment to delivering reliable renewable energy, supporting local economic development, creating green job opportunities, and advancing sustainable infrastructure in the Philippines.
