Trinasolar’s Vertex Modules Power Green Revival In The Gobi Desert, Boosting Clean Energy Expansion

In the Gobi Desert in Jinta, Gansu Province, solar panels are transforming the arid landscape into a large-scale renewable energy hub. Trinasolar has supplied 100 MW of its high-performance Vertex series modules for this project, helping to increase energy production and support environmental restoration. Trinasolar’s Vertex modules, built on a 210 mm technology platform, are designed for high power output, efficiency, and long-term reliability. These modules help reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) while maintaining steady performance under challenging conditions like droughts and dust storms.

The site receives around 3,200 hours of sunlight each year, making it ideal for solar energy generation. The 500 MW plant currently operates at full capacity and produces about 736.5 million kWh of electricity annually. This contributes to saving around 300,000 tons of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 800,000 tons, along with cutting particulate matter emissions by nearly 4,000 tons. Additionally, the use of photovoltaic panels helps prevent land degradation by lowering ground temperatures, reducing water loss, and limiting wind and sand erosion.

Cao Yunduan, Director of Global Brand and Marketing at Trinasolar, stated, “This project goes beyond power generation; it’s an example of how solar energy can actively restore degraded lands. It’s compelling evidence of the successful integration of ecological conservation and sustainable energy.”

Trinasolar continues to be recognized globally for its high-efficiency solar modules and solutions, especially in desert and arid areas. Recently, its Vertex N modules were used in a 1.3 GW solar-storage plant in northwest China that has been connected to the grid. In southwest China’s Guizhou province, a 67.5 MW agrivoltaic plant has also gone online with Trinasolar’s 720 W Vertex N modules.

Another 1 GW solar-storage project in northwest China is under construction and will be connected later this year, with Trinasolar providing 210 MW of its 720 W Vertex N modules. Trinasolar remains committed to advancing photovoltaic and energy storage technologies and continues to work towards supporting a net-zero future.
