Evolve Energy Secures 1.5 Megawatt Solar Contract From Mahanadi Coalfields Limited For Clean Energy Development In Odisha

Evolve Energy, a leading provider of integrated solar energy solutions in India, has been awarded a contract to develop a 1.5 MW AC ground-mounted solar power plant for Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. The project will be developed at MCL’s premises in Odisha and marks another significant milestone in Evolve Energy’s commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure for key public sector enterprises across the country.

The project has been tendered by MCL and will be implemented under the CAPEX model. It is scheduled for completion within a six-month period, with final commissioning targeted for November 2026. The initiative is a part of MCL’s ongoing efforts to integrate renewable energy into its core operations and reduce its dependence on conventional fossil fuels.

Under the scope of the contract, Evolve Energy will manage the entire engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) process. This includes conducting detailed site surveys, preparing the engineering design, procuring equipment and materials, installing and commissioning the solar plant, and providing long-term operations and maintenance services. This full-service approach is aimed at ensuring high efficiency, operational stability, and long-term value for the project.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. S.K. Prasad, Head – Tendering at Evolve Energy, mentioned, “We are proud to partner with Mahanadi Coalfields Limited in its clean energy journey. This win is a testament to our team’s commitment to engineering scalable solar solutions that not only meet industrial-grade demands but also accelerate India’s shift to sustainable power sources.”

The 1.5 MW solar power plant is expected to generate a significant amount of clean electricity annually, helping to offset fossil fuel consumption and support Coal India’s broader decarbonization strategy. It also reflects a growing trend in the mining and industrial sectors to adopt renewable energy solutions without disrupting their core operations. This project adds to Evolve Energy’s growing portfolio of public sector-led solar initiatives and reinforces the company’s role as a reliable partner in India’s energy transition.
