Viridi, a leading provider of fail-safe battery energy storage systems (BESS), in partnership with McKinstry, a national leader in high-performance building solutions, announced the successful deployment of its RPSLinkEX energy storage solution at the Denver Public Library.

This first-of-its-kind solar and battery energy storage installation for the City and County of Denver highlights the city’s commitment to sustainability, safety, and grid resilience. Unlike conventional lithium-ion systems that pose fire risks, Viridi’s proprietary anti-propagation technology eliminates the potential for thermal events, making it among the safest energy storage solutions available for occupied public facilities. “Public facilities like the Denver Public Library are at the forefront of demonstrating that energy resilience and safety can go hand in hand,” said Jon M. Williams, CEO at Viridi. “This installation highlights how fail-safe battery storage can empower communities to maximize renewable energy, reduce costs, and maintain reliability—all without compromise.”

The Denver Public Library required an energy system that could advance sustainability and cost savings while maintaining the highest safety standards for staff, visitors, and critical infrastructure. Viridi’s behind-the-meter RPSLinkEX system addresses that need by capturing excess solar generation for use during non-solar hours, reducing peak demand, and delivering reliable backup power during outages—all while meeting Denver’s stringent fire safety requirements.
