Poland’s Gaz-System gauges interest in second FSRU

Gaz-System, which owns and operates Poland’s gas network, is to gauge interest in raising regasification capacity in Gdańsk.

In June, the European Commission published a proposal for a regulation designed to stop natural gas imports from the Russian Federation.

This redirection of gas import routes, and the further development of LNG infrastructure, is opening up new opportunities for European member states. In the case of Gaz-System, this could take the form of a second floating storage regasification unit, with one already under construction.

The transmission operator is currently building a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) terminal in the Gdańsk area, designed to allow the supply of up to 6.1 bcm of natural gas from LNG regasification. It is due to be commissioned in 2028. Dredging started at the end of July.
