Three issues ‘holding back CCS’ in Thailand

Progress in Thailand’s carbon capture and storage sector has been “steady but slow” according to global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright.

In an update, it highlighted three principal challenges which are holding back the sector’s growth in the Asian country.

Firstly, until a dedicated carbon capture and storage (CCS) statute is enacted, legal uncertainty persists which is dampening investor confidence.

Another impediment is that underground tenure and land-use rights for CCS are not yet clearly allocated, complicating feasibility studies and bankability assessments.
