Aboitiz Upgrade Solar Inc. (AUSI), the joint venture between AboitizPower’s distributed renewables arm and Upgrade Energy Philippines, has entered into an agreement with TDK Philippines Corp. (TPC) to install a 5.65-megawatt-peak (MWp) rooftop solar system across two of TDK’s manufacturing facilities in Biñan, Laguna.

The project will feature over 9,000 solar panels, generating approximately 8 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually. This initiative aligns with TDK’s commitment to integrating sustainability within its manufacturing operations.

UGEP Chief Operating Officer Pieterjan Vanbuggenhout said the partnership highlights the potential of rooftop solar solutions to deliver both environmental and business benefits.

“Through this collaboration with TPC, we are proving that rooftop solar solutions can deliver both environmental responsibility and business performance to critical industries at scale,” he stated.

AboitizPower Vice President for Retail Energy Sales, Solutions, and Services, Gina Camacho-David, emphasized the alignment of both companies’ sustainability goals.

“Our philosophy of ‘Always-on Innovation’ is aligned with TDK’s values of strategic vision, courage, and trust,” she noted. “We are proud to help contribute to the ‘TDK Transformation’ and accelerate progress for a sustainable future.”

TDK Philippines, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based TDK Corp., manufactures electronic components for global industries. Its President and CEO, Masatoshi Shindoh, said the investment in solar power reflects the company’s ongoing environmental commitment.

“By integrating renewable energy into our operations, we are taking concrete steps to reduce our carbon footprint, enhance energy efficiency, and contribute to a cleaner energy future for the Philippines,” Shindoh said.

The installation marks another milestone in AboitizPower’s expansion in the commercial and industrial (C&I) solar segment, as more manufacturers adopt distributed energy systems to manage power costs and achieve sustainability targets
