At gasworld’s North American CO2 Summit 2026, Erica Chase, President at CleanCycle Carbon, returned to the stage as keynote speaker to look at how the biogenic CO2 market has evolved in the last year.
In this fireside chat, Chase discusses the changing economics of the renewable natural gas (RNG) market, the pressure on credit values and what this means for companies developing projects that recover CO2 from biogas.
She also reflects on CleanCycle Carbon’s experience at its Lewiston, North Carolina project, where CO2 is recovered from RNG tail gas at a poultry processing facility. The project was developed in response to the severe CO2 supply shortages experienced during 2020–2022 and has since produced its first beverage-grade liquid CO2.
Drawing on the lessons learned from that project, Chase explains how CleanCycle Carbon is approaching future developments.
The conversation also explores the changing landscape around the US 45Q tax credit, the role smaller-scale CO2 sources could play in areas facing supply constraints, and what the industry can do to prepare for the next major disruption.
