PowerBank Corporation recently hosted members of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Clean Energy Hub for a site tour of the active Manlius Solar Project in Upstate New York. The visit included an overview of the project’s development journey—from permitting through operations—and a Q&A session with PowerBank’s Chief Operating Officer, Andrew van Doorn. The project benefits from incentives under NYSERDA’s NY-Sun Program.

Located in the town of Manlius, Onondaga County, the 5.9 MW, USD 11.35 million community solar project was built on a repurposed closed landfill and developed for Solar Advocate Development LLC. In its first year of operation, the project generated enough clean energy to power approximately 737 homes.

Operating under New York’s community solar model, the Manlius project feeds clean energy directly into the local grid, allowing renters and homeowners to subscribe and receive monthly bill credits for their share of generated solar power. This provides consumers with the financial and environmental benefits of solar energy without the need for rooftop installations.

With over 100 MW of completed projects and a development pipeline exceeding 1 GW, PowerBank continues to leverage its strategic partnerships and institutional-grade capabilities to deliver reliable, high-impact renewable energy infrastructure across North America.
