DEWA and Veolia Strengthen Strategic Collaboration to Advance Sustainable Water Management in Line with UAE’s Green Economy Vision

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Managing Director and CEO, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, held a high-level meeting with Anne Le Guennec, CEO of Veolia’s Water Tech Zone, to explore new avenues of cooperation in sustainable water resource management and environmental innovation.

The discussions focused on accelerating the deployment of advanced water treatment technologies and AI-powered smart systems designed to enhance operational efficiency, optimise resource usage, and support Dubai’s transition to a green economy.

Al Tayer emphasised DEWA’s ongoing projects, including desalination plants powered by renewable energy and intelligent monitoring systems that support demand management and water security. He said the collaboration with Veolia aligns with Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, reinforcing the emirate’s leadership in clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.

He noted that DEWA’s integrated approach incorporates circular economy practices, predictive technologies, and digital transformation initiatives that are advancing Dubai’s position as a global model for sustainability in the water and energy sectors.

The meeting is part of DEWA and Veolia’s broader efforts to exchange global expertise, promote research and development, and implement cutting-edge solutions in water resource management. These include smart water networks, artificial intelligence applications and innovative desalination technologies powered entirely by clean energy sources.

Anne Le Guennec praised DEWA’s leadership in sustainability and innovation, reiterating Veolia’s commitment to deepening collaboration to support Dubai’s long-term environmental goals and enhance water security through technology-driven solutions.

The partnership underscores the UAE’s commitment to advancing sustainable infrastructure and accelerating the transition toward a low-carbon, circular economy.
