India Enters New Solar Era: GREW Solar’s G12R Series to Cut Costs and Accelerate Energy Security Goals

In a major boost to India’s renewable energy manufacturing capabilities, GREW Solar, one of the country’s fastest-growing solar PV manufacturers, unveiled its new G12R High-Power Series ahead of the REI Expo 2025. The launch comes as India records its highest-ever solar and wind power generation in the first half of 2025, reducing nearly 24 million tonnes of emissions and significantly lowering dependence on coal.

The G12R series, which delivers up to 635 Wp output, is designed to enhance utility-scale performance by reducing total module count by 6–8% per MW, lowering BOS costs, and improving installation efficiency. The modules also offer a 6–7% increase in container power density and up to 3% more power per square meter compared to standard TOPCon modules, reinforcing India’s ambition to install 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Mohammad Rihan, Director General of the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), said the launch demonstrates India’s growing technological leadership in clean energy manufacturing and supports the nation’s long-term goal of energy independence by 2047.

GREW Solar’s CEO & Director, Vinay Thadani, emphasized that the new series aligns with India’s clean energy roadmap, positioning the company as a key contributor to domestic manufacturing and energy security. COO Hardip Singh highlighted the company’s focus on operational excellence, noting that the new modules are engineered for both performance and large-scale reliability.

The company currently operates a 6.5 GW module manufacturing facility in Jaipur and is expanding its capacity to 11 GW, along with an 8 GW PV cell facility in Madhya Pradesh. Supported by a recent ₹300 crore investment, GREW Solar plans to complete its expansion, innovation, and R&D roadmap by 2026, further positioning India as a global hub in solar manufacturing.
