Exploration firm Blue Star Helium has started construction at its Galactica project in Colorado and says it is on track to produce helium in December 2025.
The company said contractors have broken ground on both the production facility pad – a 400ft by 500ft site with upgraded access roads – and the gathering system, which starts at Jackson 31 and will tie in existing wells to the Pinon Canyon Plant.
Once first production is achieved later this year, Blue Star Helium will ramp up the site’s capacity in the first half of 2026. Carbon dioxide production and sales are also expected to start in the first half of 2026.
Trent Spry, Managing Director and CEO of Blue Star Helium, said, “Seeing construction begin on the production facility and gathering system makes our development plan tangible.”
