Sembcorp Industries, through its wholly owned renewable energy subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited, has secured a 150 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project from SJVN Limited. This project follows the build-own-operate model and is part of SJVN’s 6,000 MWh (1,500 MW x 4 hours) tender, aimed at providing assured peak power through renewable energy projects connected to the Inter-State Transmission System and integrated with energy storage systems.

To deliver the contracted capacity, Sembcorp plans to develop approximately 750 MW of renewable assets comprising a mix of solar power generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Once a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) is finalized with SJVN, the project is expected to achieve commercial operation within 24 months. It will be financed through a combination of internal funds and debt, reflecting Sembcorp’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint in India.

Mr. A Nithyanand, CEO of Renewables Business, India, Sembcorp Industries, expressed that this FDRE award represents a key milestone in the company’s mission to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions. He noted that with a secured development pipeline of over 4 GW in solar and wind energy, along with more than 1.4 GWh of battery energy storage systems, Sembcorp is well positioned to meet India’s growing need for flexible and round-the-clock renewable power. With this latest project win, Sembcorp’s total renewable energy capacity in India has now exceeded 7.6 GW. On a global scale, the company’s renewable energy portfolio stands at 20.1 GW, which includes acquisitions that are currently pending completion.
