ADM and Tallgrass launch ‘world’s largest’ bioethanol CCS project

Food processing company ADM has started up carbon capture and storage operations at its corn processing facility in Columbus, Nebraska.

ADM believes the start-up of the facility now makes it the largest active bioethanol carbon capture facility globally.

The facility is connected to Tallgrass’s Trailblazer pipeline, which will transport the captured carbon dioxide from the ethanol plant to an Eastern Wyoming sequestration hub for permanent underground storage.

Chris Cuddy, President of North America at ADM, described CCS as an important part of its strategy to decarbonise operations, while  meeting global demand for low-carbon ingredients.
