Equinix Partners With CleanMax To Power Data Centers With 26.4 MWp Of Solar Energy, Reducing 30,000 Tonnes Of CO₂ Annually

Equinix, the world’s digital infrastructure company, has announced the successful commissioning of its Group Captive Solar Project under a long-term renewable energy Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with CleanMax. This development represents a major milestone in Equinix’s global sustainability strategy and its goal of achieving 100% renewable energy coverage across all operations by 2030.

Under the agreement, a total of 26.4 megawatt-peak (MWp) of solar capacity became operational on November 1, 2025. The project is expected to generate approximately 41.4 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually — sufficient to power more than 30,000 Indian households each year. Through this initiative, Equinix will reduce its carbon emissions by over 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, significantly contributing to its global climate objectives and India’s renewable energy transition.

Speaking about the achievement, Manoj Paul, Managing Director, India, Equinix, said, “We are pleased to announce the commissioning of the solar project in India. This initiative is expected to generate substantial renewable power and meaningfully reduce carbon emissions every year. It not only reinforces our commitment to sustainability but also represents a key step forward in our journey toward achieving 100% renewable energy coverage across our global operations. By leveraging this clean energy capacity, we continue to lower our carbon footprint and support our customers in India in meeting their own sustainability goals.”

The commissioning of this project highlights Equinix’s proactive approach to integrating renewable energy into its operations and ensuring long-term energy security through sustainable sourcing. The partnership with CleanMax reflects the company’s broader mission to decarbonize its data center operations while contributing to India’s growing clean energy ecosystem. Through initiatives like this, Equinix continues to demonstrate global leadership in responsible energy management, setting an example for the digital infrastructure industry in advancing toward a more sustainable future.
