Vikram Solar, a leading player in India’s solar PV sector, today announced the commissioning of its state-of-the-art Vallam manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, adding 5 GW of advanced module production capacity. With this expansion, the company’s total manufacturing capacity rises to 9.5 GW, reinforcing its position as a scale-driven leader in solar technology and strengthening its influence in India’s clean energy transition.

The Vallam facility, spanning 27,000 sq. m, is designed as a future-ready, large-scale manufacturing hub, incorporating advanced TOPCon technology and engineered for seamless upgrades to HJT modules. The plant supports multiple module formats, including M10, G12, and G12R, highlighting Vikram Solar’s commitment to technology leadership and adaptability.

The facility integrates intelligent robotics, advanced material-handling systems, built-in quality checks, and fully automated packaging, many of which are being deployed in India for the first time. This automation enhances manufacturing precision, accelerates throughput, strengthens process reliability, and sets new benchmarks for operational excellence.

For customers, Vallam translates into higher-quality modules with lower failure rates, improved performance, and reduced degradation, resulting in better long-term energy yields. Automated production ensures predictable deliveries, shorter lead times, and compliance with Tier-1 and international quality standards, providing confidence to utility-scale developers, C&I customers, and distributed generation projects.

The Vallam plant complements Vikram Solar’s existing Oragadam facility and follows the recent foundation ceremony for the upcoming Gangaikondan site, marking a strategic expansion of the company’s manufacturing footprint in Tamil Nadu. Together, these facilities reinforce the state’s position as a major hub for advanced solar manufacturing and green technology innovation.

Mr. Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director of Vikram Solar, said:
“Vallam is a defining milestone for Vikram Solar and for India’s solar manufacturing story. Commissioning this 5 GW facility within a year demonstrates our readiness for the scale, speed, and innovation the next decade demands. This facility strengthens India’s value chain and reinforces our confidence that Indian clean tech can lead globally.”

Vikram Solar also emphasized its commitment to inclusive growth, targeting 40–50% gender diversity in the Vallam workforce, reflecting its vision for a modern and equitable manufacturing environment.

The modules produced at Vallam will support utility-scale, commercial & industrial, and distributed generation projects across India, aiding the country in its ambitious renewable energy targets.
