Canadian Solar Inc. announced important leadership changes, including the appointment of Colin Parkin to its Board of Directors and his promotion to President of the Company. Parkin replaces Yan Zhuang on the Board and assumes the President role from Dr. Shawn Qu, effective immediately. Dr. Qu, the Founder of Canadian Solar, will continue to serve as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. This transition will allow him to devote more time to long-term strategy, technology advancement, and strengthening the Company’s growing investment and manufacturing footprint in North America.

Along with Parkin’s promotion, the Company also appointed Dylan Marx as Chief Operating Officer. These changes reflect Canadian Solar’s commitment to developing leaders from within the organization and to ensuring strong collaboration and operational excellence across all of its global subsidiaries. Parkin has spent two decades at Canadian Solar, building extensive experience across multiple business units. Most recently, he was President of e-STORAGE, Canadian Solar’s utility-scale energy storage subsidiary, where he played a central role in scaling the business into a global leader in energy storage solutions.

Before leading e-STORAGE, Parkin served as Vice President of the Company’s Energy Group, now known as Recurrent Energy. He has also worked as General Manager for Canada and Vice President of Engineering and Projects. Prior to joining Canadian Solar, he founded Integrated Manufacturing Technologies (IMT) and held engineering and leadership positions at Photowatt International and Automation Tooling Systems (ATS). He studied Manufacturing Engineering at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.

Marx has been with Canadian Solar since 2013 and brings strong operational expertise to his new role. He previously served as Corporate Vice President of Operations and President of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for Recurrent Energy. His background spans renewable energy, automation, and manufacturing. Before joining Canadian Solar, he held senior positions at ATS Automation and BlackBerry. Marx holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Analysis from Conestoga College and an MBA from the University of Windsor.

Together, Parkin and Marx have more than 30 years of combined leadership experience within Canadian Solar and its affiliated companies. The Board believes their strong understanding of the Company’s operations and culture will help guide its next phase of global growth. Dr. Shawn Qu shared his perspective on the appointments, noting that as Canadian Solar approaches its 25th anniversary in 2026, the Company is entering an important new stage of development.

He emphasized pride in the Company’s achievements and the dedication of its more than 15,000 employees worldwide. He added that Parkin has been a key figure in building e-STORAGE into a global energy storage leader, and that both Parkin and Marx, with their deep institutional knowledge, will help lead Canadian Solar toward continued growth and long-term value creation.
