Sharjah sees CCS being viable from 2030

With the World Future Energy Summit 2026 underway in Abu Dhabi, all facets of energy management and delivery are coming under the microscope.

For the UAE, its commitment to hydrogen and solar is well documented, while one technology you tend to hear less about is carbon capture and storage (CCS). But that is now changing.

Siddharth Jain, Field Development Manager at Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), said its mature, depleted fields have the potential to store up to 300 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
