ACEN is expanding its renewable energy presence in Northern Luzon with the launch of San Manuel Solar, its first solar project in Pangasinan. This development highlights the company’s commitment to supporting the Philippines’ transition to a low-carbon energy future. The project comes after ACEN acquired Sinocalan Solar Power Corp. in December 2022, which paved the way for the 60-megawatt solar facility in San Manuel. This facility forms an important part of ACEN’s growing renewable portfolio in Northern Luzon, a region considered to have strong potential for clean energy development.

San Manuel Solar is equipped with 108,752 ground-mounted photovoltaic panels and is designed to generate around 94 gigawatt-hours of electricity each year. This amount of power is enough to supply energy to approximately 55,000 households annually. The solar farm is expected to prevent over 58,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year, contributing to the Philippines’ climate goals while strengthening energy security in Luzon. The electricity produced by the project is connected directly to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines through a dedicated 1.8-kilometer transmission line that links to the 69-kilovolt San Manuel Substation, ensuring efficient delivery of renewable energy to the grid.

ACEN is also focused on creating positive impacts for local communities. Through programs such as Brigada Eskwela and Brigada Pagbasa, in partnership with the Department of Education, the company has contributed to the refurbishment of schools in Pangasinan, supplied essential learning materials, and strengthened literacy initiatives. These efforts reflect ACEN’s approach of supporting community development alongside the clean energy transition.

The San Manuel Solar project is part of ACEN’s broader strategy to grow its renewable energy portfolio in the Philippines and aligns with the government’s goal of achieving 35% renewable energy in the country’s power generation mix by 2030. With the successful implementation of this solar facility, ACEN continues to demonstrate its commitment to scaling up clean energy investments across Northern Luzon and other regions. The company remains focused on enabling a just and inclusive energy transition that not only provides sustainable power but also benefits communities and supports national climate targets.

Through San Manuel Solar, ACEN is taking a significant step in driving the Philippines toward a more sustainable energy future, showing how renewable energy projects can simultaneously address environmental goals, energy security, and social development.
