Industrial gas major Air Liquide has signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy for the supply of helium. The deal reflects Qatar’s growing importance in global helium supply as new LNG projects come online.
Under the agreement, Air Liquide will offtake around 300 million cubic feet of helium per year from Qatar. The duration of the contract was not disclosed.
The deal builds on a long-standing relationship between the two companies, dating back to 2005 when QatarEnergy commissioned its first helium production facility.
