EVE Energy Co., Ltd., along with its partners, has signed a contract for a major solar-plus-storage project at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), marking the company’s official entry into Malaysia’s critical infrastructure energy sector. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof, highlighting the national importance of the project and its alignment with the country’s green energy goals.
The project involves a 10 MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic plant combined with a 36 MWh battery energy storage system. It is EVE Energy’s first AC/DC integrated energy storage deployment in Malaysia and will use the company’s advanced 628Ah energy storage batteries. The system includes a planned 5 MWh highly integrated storage solution designed to support renewable energy grid connection, peak shaving, and grid frequency regulation. Once operational in 2027, the system will supply stable green power to KLIA’s main terminal alongside a 36 MWp solar farm.
EVE Energy stated that the project reflects its ability to deliver reliable and safe energy storage solutions for large-scale and sensitive infrastructure such as international airports. Oscar Chan, General Manager of International Energy Storage Sales at EVE Energy, said the company is proud to support a world-class transportation hub like KLIA and will use its technical expertise and project experience to ensure high-quality delivery.
KLIA is Southeast Asia’s second-busiest airport, serving around 6 million passengers every year. The project is closely aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap and national carbon reduction targets. According to estimates, the solar-plus-storage system will help reduce around 42,006 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, supporting KLIA’s goal to increase renewable energy use by 2030 and move toward net-zero emissions.
EVE Energy said it plans to further strengthen partnerships across Southeast Asia and continue working with global stakeholders to support the region’s clean energy transition and build a sustainable energy ecosystem.
