Top Stories Of The Day: MNRE Expands ALMM List-II; GRIDCO Revises Power Procurement Norms and More…

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued the fifth revision of ALMM List-II, significantly expanding India’s approved domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity. The move strengthens supply chain localization, enhances quality compliance, and supports India’s push for self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat and PLI-driven solar manufacturing ecosystem.

GRIDCO released Corrigendum-2 updating timelines, billing cycles, and deviation settlement rules for short-term power procurement. The revisions aim to improve contractual clarity, streamline scheduling practices, and enhance grid discipline while ensuring greater transparency in short-term electricity trading and procurement mechanisms.

NLC India and NALCO signed a partnership agreement to develop 1,200 MW of renewable and thermal power projects. The collaboration supports captive energy security, strengthens renewable integration in industrial operations, and aligns with India’s broader decarbonization and energy transition roadmap.

India Solar Week 2026 kicks off this Wednesday with strong MNRE support, bringing together policymakers, developers, manufacturers, and investors. The event highlights India’s expanding solar capacity, domestic manufacturing growth, and emerging policy frameworks shaping the nation’s clean energy future.

Saatvik Green Energy published its inaugural FY25 sustainability report, outlining ESG priorities, emissions management strategies, and responsible manufacturing initiatives. The report signals deeper environmental and governance integration as the company strengthens transparency and aligns with global sustainability benchmarks.

The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) disposed of IEX’s appeal, allowing CERC to proceed with implementing the proposed market coupling framework. The decision could reshape India’s power exchange operations, improving price discovery efficiency and ensuring fair competition across electricity markets.

South Central Railway issued a ₹5.03 crore tender for a rooftop solar project at the Guntupalli workshop in Andhra Pradesh. The initiative supports Indian Railways’ renewable energy adoption goals, reducing operational emissions and promoting decentralized solar deployment across railway infrastructure.

APTEL granted interim relief in a Haryana solar tariff dispute, directing HERC to conduct a fresh review. The order brings temporary clarity for developers while highlighting ongoing regulatory scrutiny around tariff approvals and contract enforcement in state-level renewable projects.

CERC reduced a delayed 300 MW Rajasthan solar project to 150 MW and imposed penalties for commissioning lapses. The ruling reinforces regulatory accountability, emphasizing strict compliance with project timelines and contractual obligations within India’s rapidly expanding solar sector.

World Energy Day 2026 spotlighted India’s solar-led renewable transformation, emphasizing record capacity additions, policy support, and private investment momentum. The event underscored India’s leadership in clean energy expansion and its growing role in global climate action efforts.

CERC permitted SPPL to continue holding 700 MW General Network Access (GNA) for a Navi Mumbai data center project under a revised timeline. The decision supports large-scale digital infrastructure growth while ensuring regulatory flexibility in grid connectivity planning.
