Indian Green Energy Stocks Show Mixed Performance Amid Market Weakness (24 August 2026)

Indian stock markets ended lower on August 24, 2026, as investors remained cautious amid selling pressure across benchmark indices. The S&P BSE SENSEX closed at 77,369.11, declining 0.22%, or around 171 points. The NIFTY 50 also ended in the red, falling 0.14% to 24,219.05. The weak market trend reflected a cautious approach among domestic investors.

The green energy and clean mobility segment witnessed mixed trading activity, with selected mid-cap and small-cap stocks recording strong gains while several major companies faced selling pressure.

Kabra Extrusion emerged as one of the strongest performers, rising more than 8% to close around Rs 612. Praj Industries also remained positive, gaining nearly 1.90% to Rs 351.20 on the BSE. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) advanced 1.54% on the BSE and 1.91% on the NSE, ending near Rs 138.50. GAIL India also gained up to 1.02% to close at Rs 173.75.

Several other clean energy and electric mobility stocks posted modest gains. Insolation Energy rose 0.75%, while Amara Raja Energy & Mobility increased 0.60%. Inox Wind gained 0.54%, followed by Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy with a 0.26% rise. NTPC Green Energy also edged higher by 0.18%.

However, several renewable energy and solar equipment companies faced losses during the session. Websol Energy declined around 2.5% to nearly Rs 80.70, while Borosil Renewables fell more than 2.1% on the BSE to Rs 537.75. Juniper Green Energy declined nearly 2.9% on the NSE, closing at Rs 265.80. Electric mobility company Olectra Greentech also fell more than 1.6% to Rs 1,296.40.

Among major energy companies, Tata Power declined 0.76% to Rs 372. Adani Green Energy fell around 0.9% to Rs 1,304, while Reliance Industries slipped approximately 0.5% to Rs 1,307.50. Larsen & Toubro and JSW Energy remained largely stable, recording only marginal declines.

Overall, the session highlighted selective investor interest in the green energy and clean mobility sector, despite broader weakness in the Indian equity market.
