Zelestra Advances Construction Of 27.5 MWdc Klevenow Solar Project In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, With Full Operation Expected By Q2 2026

Zelestra, a global, multi-technology renewable energy company focused on customer solutions, has advanced the construction of its 27.5 MWdc Klevenow solar project in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The project has moved steadily from initial groundwork to active construction, with most ground mounting posts now installed, half of the low-voltage cabling laid, and the high-voltage transformer positioned in the substation area. The solar modules are scheduled to arrive within the next two weeks, with the site expected to reach full commercial operation by the end of the second quarter of 2026. The construction phase is supporting approximately 40 local jobs.

Once operational, the Klevenow solar project is anticipated to generate around 28,700 MWh of electricity annually, helping to avoid roughly 9,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. The clean energy produced will primarily serve the commercial and industrial demand in the nearby Pomeranian Triangle, contributing to regional energy needs while supporting Germany’s transition to renewable power.

Zelestra is also developing a hybrid component for the Klevenow project, with a 30 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in progress. This addition will enhance the project’s ability to manage local energy demand, providing dispatchable clean energy and further stabilizing the grid.

Robert Hienz, Zelestra’s CEO in Germany, commented, “The Klevenow project marks the start of an intensive construction period for Zelestra in Germany. This year, we expect to break ground on more than 120 MW of solar capacity across the five projects we secured through EEG tenders. Achieving full commercial operation at Klevenow this summer will be an important milestone, and we look forward to advancing our pipeline of over 2 GW of solar and battery projects across the country throughout the year.”

The Klevenow project forms part of Zelestra’s accelerated growth strategy in Germany following its acquisition of East Energy in October 2024. The company has swiftly progressed from project development into construction and operations, with a total pipeline of 2 GW across 25 solar and 15 BESS projects under active development. Zelestra’s German team includes more than 70 professionals across offices in Hamburg, Berlin, and Rostock. The senior leadership team brings decades of experience in successfully delivering clean energy projects in Germany, positioning the company to execute its ambitious growth plans efficiently while maintaining high standards of project quality and operational reliability.
