Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity has reported a major improvement in the country’s power supply, bringing a period of stability that citizens have waited for many years. After facing frequent outages and weak infrastructure, electricity is now being delivered more consistently across several provinces. This progress is the result of better planning, repair work, and the addition of new power generation units, along with milder weather conditions that have reduced pressure on the system.

According to ministry officials, electricity production has reached record levels, allowing households and businesses to receive longer hours of supply. The government has focused on fixing damaged transmission lines and upgrading substations. These steps have helped reduce technical losses, which earlier caused a large amount of generated power to be wasted before reaching consumers. With improved infrastructure, more electricity is now successfully delivered to end users.

International cooperation has also supported Iraq’s progress in strengthening its power sector. Partnerships with global energy companies have helped modernize gas-based power plants and introduce more efficient technologies. These efforts are part of a larger national plan to upgrade the country’s energy system and make it more reliable in the future. The ministry described this plan as a roadmap aimed at improving performance and handling future demand more effectively.

Even with these improvements, officials have warned that the situation still requires careful management. They stressed that long-term stability will depend on continuous investment and a shift toward a more diverse energy mix. Iraq is now exploring solar energy and other renewable options to support its existing thermal power plants. This approach is expected to reduce dependence on a single energy source and improve overall .

The ministry has also asked citizens to use electricity responsibly, especially during the summer season when demand increases sharply. High consumption during peak periods could still put pressure on the system if not managed properly.

The recent improvement in electricity supply is already helping the economy. Businesses and small industries can now operate with more certainty, without depending heavily on costly private generators. Reliable power has been a long-standing challenge in Iraq, affecting daily life and economic growth.

While the current stability is a positive step, the government has made it clear that work is still ongoing. The long-term goal is to ensure a stable, self-sufficient power system that can meet demand throughout the year without the need for power cuts or rationing.
