Iberdrola Italia, the Italian subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group, has renewed its partnership with the Sopowerful Foundation through iCube, the joint venture it operates with Innovo Renovables. This continued collaboration strengthens their shared goal of expanding access to electricity in vulnerable and underserved communities across developing countries.
The renewed agreement focuses on supporting solar-based electrification projects in areas where electricity is limited, inconsistent, or completely unavailable. Much of this work is concentrated in countries such as Malawi and Tanzania, where many communities still rely on unreliable or polluting energy sources.
By installing solar systems, the partnership helps provide essential services, improve daily living conditions, and encourage more inclusive and sustainable development.Sopowerful, established in 2019, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing renewable energy solutions to regions facing energy poverty.
The foundation currently leads more than 40 active projects, positively influencing the lives of approximately 500,000 people every year. Its initiatives contribute to progress in several key areas, including healthcare facilities that require stable electricity, schools that need proper lighting and equipment, reliable access to clean water, and improvements in food production and storage.
Renewing the collaboration, which began in 2024, reflects a shared commitment to combining innovation with long-term social and environmental impact. It reinforces the idea that electrification—when built on clean and renewable technologies—can be a transformative force for both individuals and entire communities, supporting a more resilient and equitable future.
