Top Stories Of The Day: Solar Tenders, Transmission Expansion, Rooftop Policy Reforms, Corporate PPAs & More…

NLC India Limited, through NLC India Renewables Limited, has floated a tender to arrange 1,500 acres of land in Gujarat for large-scale solar PV projects. The land will be leased for renewable energy development, with each parcel expected to support utility-scale solar capacity. The move supports NLCIL’s clean energy expansion plans in Gujarat.

MNRE has approved Zinc Aluminium Magnesium alloy for rooftop solar module mounting structures under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The amendment expands approved material options beyond galvanized iron, aluminium, and galvanized mild steel. This move is expected to give vendors and manufacturers greater flexibility while supporting durable rooftop solar deployment across India.

NTPC Limited has reported strong FY26 financial results, with standalone PAT rising 18% and group PAT growing 15%. The performance was supported by capacity additions, operational efficiencies, reduced finance costs, and improved contributions from subsidiaries and joint ventures. The results highlight NTPC’s continued strength as India’s largest integrated power utility.

RERC has approved Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited’s ₹6,312.20 crore transmission investment plan for FY 2026–27. The approval follows detailed regulatory review and includes modifications to the originally proposed capital expenditure. The investment aims to strengthen Rajasthan’s transmission network and support growing power demand and renewable energy integration.

BluPine Energy has signed a solar power purchase agreement with KEI Industries Ltd to supply renewable electricity for industrial operations. The partnership will help KEI reduce dependence on conventional power, improve energy cost visibility, and advance its decarbonisation goals. It also reflects the rising adoption of corporate renewable PPAs across India’s manufacturing sector.

Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has ordered distribution companies to provide consumers a minimum 15-day payment window from the electricity bill date, effective June 2026. The order responds to complaints over delayed bill delivery and shortened payment timelines. It reinforces consumer protection norms under the Karnataka Electricity Supply Code, 2004.

KIOCL Limited has invited bids for a minimum 2.7 MWp floating solar PV project at its Blast Furnace Unit in Panambur, Mangaluru. The project will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate basis over the facility’s water reservoir. The selected contractor will handle design, engineering, installation, commissioning, and power evacuation.

Gwalior Municipal Corporation has floated a ₹9.98 crore tender for setting up a 2 MW solar power plant at Manpur. The project is expected to support municipal clean energy use and reduce reliance on conventional electricity. The tender reflects growing interest among urban local bodies in deploying solar power for public infrastructure.

CERC has granted an inter-state transmission licence to KPS III HVDC Transmission Limited for a 2.5 GW renewable energy evacuation project in Gujarat. The project will support power evacuation from the Khavda region under Phase-V Part C. It includes HVDC terminal stations, transmission lines, and advanced grid support features.

The Appellate Tribunal for Electricity has rejected a stay plea related to a ₹4.97/kWh tariff for a Karnataka 20 MW solar project. The decision allows the earlier regulatory position to continue while the matter proceeds. The case highlights ongoing legal scrutiny around solar tariffs, commissioning timelines, and power purchase agreement obligations.

APTEL has dismissed BESCOM’s interim application seeking a stay on KERC’s order concerning a 20 MW solar project by Brics Renewable Energy. The tribunal noted delay in challenging the order and declined to stay the ₹5.07/kWh tariff. The matter reinforces the importance of timely regulatory action in tariff disputes.

APERC has released draft 2026 regulations to improve procurement discipline, investment transparency, and cost control for power utilities in Andhra Pradesh. The proposed framework will apply to transmission and distribution licensees and cover major infrastructure schemes. It aims to protect consumers from avoidable tariff burdens while improving utility accountability.

Mr. Abhinav Singh and Mr. Manish Maurya of Exajoule Private Limited were honoured with the Rooftop Solar Project of the Year award at Uttar Pradesh Energy Expo 2026. The recognition celebrates excellence in rooftop solar deployment, project execution, quality delivery, and contribution to decentralised clean energy adoption across residential and commercial sectors.

Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited reported strong FY26 performance with ₹727.70 crore PAT and 7,744 MU commercial generation. The company also recorded ₹4,666.60 crore total income and 89.61% availability. In a key development, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved Stage-II expansion of the Meja Thermal Power Project to strengthen state power capacity.

SWELECT Energy Systems reported improved FY26 profitability while expanding its focus on battery energy storage systems and solar manufacturing. The company posted higher PAT in Q4 despite lower revenue and continues working toward its 1 GW IPP capacity target. Its strategy reflects India’s rising demand for integrated solar and storage solutions.

K2 Infragen Ltd has secured ₹56.91 crore transmission orders from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited. The orders strengthen the company’s transmission and distribution order book and support its growing role in power infrastructure development. The win comes as Rajasthan continues expanding grid capacity to support electricity demand and renewable integration.
