Brazil has moved to classify fertilisers as a strategic sector under its critical minerals framework, a step that could strengthen the business case for domestic green ammonia and hydrogen production.
The House of Representatives approved the bill on 6 May that would grant the government the ability to approve nitrogen-based fertiliser projects as a “priority”.
The move coincides with broader efforts to implement green hydrogen production tax credits, giving hope for a new domestic anchor industry in the South American nation.
