Roughly half of global helium supply is still unavailable as a result of the Middle East crisis and recent dynamics involving China and Russia, according to Rich Brook, CEO of Garrison Ventures.
Speaking on today’s gasworld webinar entitled ‘‘, he said, “With Qatar offline that is 2 bcf out, out of a total supply of 6 bcf … and then a month ago there was a spat between Russia and China that blew up, and all of a sudden Russia decided to , and that was another 1 bcf. There seems to be movement to restart that, but it’s not fully back online, so the market is really struggling at the moment. Helium continues to flow to those who really need it.”
Companies have issued instructions and price surcharges as ways to manage the situation the best they can.
