The temporary loss of access to roughly half of global helium supply, driven by disruptions in Qatar and Russian export restrictions, has become a stress test for one of the world’s most geographically concentrated supply chains.
Qatar normally accounts for around one-third of global helium production, while Russian exports make up a substantial source of supply.

“Diversifying the sources is the number one improvement that you can have in managing a well-managed supply chain that is less prone to supply interruptions,” he said.
