Greenply Expands Renewable Energy Usage at Vadodara Facility, Achieves Nearly 80% Clean Power Consumption

Greenply Industries Limited has commissioned its second renewable energy asset under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at its manufacturing facility in Vadodara, enabling nearly 80% of the plant’s total electricity consumption to be met through renewable energy sources.

The commissioning marks a significant milestone in the company’s sustainability journey and strengthens its efforts to reduce carbon emissions while enhancing energy security and operational efficiency at the facility.

According to the company, the newly operational renewable energy asset substantially increases the share of clean electricity used at the Vadodara plant. The initiative forms part of Greenply’s broader strategy to build environmentally responsible manufacturing operations and align with India’s transition toward sustainable industrial growth.

The renewable energy assets are designed to support round-the-clock power requirements, providing a reliable and predictable energy supply that aligns with the plant’s real-time consumption needs. Greenply stated that the move is expected to improve energy reliability, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and help mitigate the impact of fluctuating grid electricity costs.

The development comes as manufacturers across India increasingly focus on decarbonization and clean energy adoption amid rising sustainability expectations and evolving environmental regulations. Greenply noted that it began integrating sustainability-focused operational practices and clean technology solutions well ahead of industry trends as part of its long-term manufacturing vision.

In addition to renewable energy procurement, the company has implemented environmentally responsible initiatives at the Vadodara facility, including in-plant electric vehicle mobility solutions and other sustainability-driven operational measures.

Commenting on the development, Sanidhya Mittal, Joint Managing Director of Greenply Industries Limited, said the company continues to prioritize investments that enhance manufacturing resilience, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility. He noted that expanding renewable energy usage strengthens Greenply’s ability to develop future-ready manufacturing operations while contributing to long-term environmental and economic sustainability.

The latest renewable energy milestone complements Greenply’s broader innovation and sustainability initiatives. The company was among the first in India to introduce E0-level plywood manufactured with zero added formaldehyde and has also been an early adopter of fire-retardant technology for premium wood panel products.

Greenply said its continued focus on sustainability, innovation, and responsible manufacturing reflects its commitment to setting higher industry benchmarks while addressing evolving customer and market expectations.
