OEM Sungrow Hydrogen will supply 48MW of alkaline electrolyser equipment and two purification systems for the first phase of a 600MW solar-based renewable hydrogen project in China.
Eight 1,200 Nm³/h Sungrow electrolysers will supply green hydrogen to China Coal Pingshuo’s open-pit coal mines in Shuozhou, Shanxi Province, replacing fossil-derived hydrogen at the site.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Sungrow has also been increasing its deployment activity in Europe. Most recently, an with BrightHy Solutions resulted in its first European sale with a 2MW Sungrow system integrated into .
In March, the company confirmed “” alkaline and PEM system shipments to customers in Europe, Oman, and South America, claiming these confirmed its global project delivery capabilities.
Green hydrogen is emerging as a promising decarbonisation pathway for coal-chemical production, though high costs, renewable power availability, and infrastructure requirements remain challenging.
Falling electrolyser costs – supported by China’s dominance of alkaline electrolyser manufacturing, estimated at up to 86% of global capacity by the World Bank – are improving its prospects in the country as a tool for reducing the sector’s carbon footprint
