Aboitiz Renewables Inaugurates 92.55 MWp San Manuel Solar Power Plant in Pangasinan

Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), has officially inaugurated its 92.55 MWp San Manuel Solar Power Plant in Pangasinan, further expanding its renewable energy portfolio and supporting the Philippines’ efforts to increase the share of clean energy in its power mix.

The solar facility was developed in coordination with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), local government units, and host communities. The plant supplies electricity directly to the Luzon grid through the San Manuel 69 kV Substation.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon Garin, Pangasinan Vice Governor Mark DG. Lambino, San Manuel Mayor Kenneth Marco S. Perez, San Manuel Vice Mayor Alain Jerico S. Perez, and Binalonan Vice Mayor Bryan Louie Ramirez Balangue.

The San Manuel Solar Power Plant is Aboitiz Renewables’ third solar facility in Pangasinan, following the 154 MWp Laoag 1 and 2 Solar Power Plants and the 94 MWp Cayanga-Bugallon Solar Power Plant, further strengthening the company’s renewable energy footprint in the province.

Speaking at the inauguration, DOE Secretary Sharon Garin said the project represents a commitment to providing stable and affordable electricity while creating local employment opportunities and contributing to a more sustainable energy future for the country.

AboitizPower President and Chief Executive Officer Danel Aboitiz said investments in projects such as the San Manuel Solar Power Plant are essential to strengthening the Philippines’ energy system, diversifying the country’s energy mix, and enhancing long-term energy security. He added that AboitizPower has expanded its attributable net sellable renewable energy capacity from around 900 MW in 2020 to 2.3 GW today.

Aboitiz Renewables President Jimmy A. Villaroman highlighted the company’s continued commitment to accelerating renewable energy development and acknowledged the support of the Department of Energy and local government partners in enabling the project’s successful implementation.

With the commissioning of the San Manuel facility, Aboitiz Renewables now operates 45 renewable energy facilities across the Philippines, spanning solar, hydropower, geothermal, and battery energy storage technologies. The company also has a development pipeline exceeding 1,800 MW of solar, hydro, and wind projects, reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting the country’s clean energy transition.
