Shell Energy Philippines, Inc. has signed a second 15-year solar power agreement with Greenlight Renewables, Inc. for the San Isidro Solar Power Project in Leyte, Philippines. The agreement strengthens the partnership between the two companies and supports the expansion of renewable energy generation in the Visayas region.
The latest power supply agreement covers an additional 120 MWp of solar capacity from Phase 2 of the San Isidro project. With the new agreement, the total contracted capacity between Shell Energy Philippines and Greenlight Renewables has increased to 240 MWp, including the 120 MWp covered under the earlier agreement for Phase 1.
Both phases of the San Isidro Solar Power Project have now been energised, marking progress in bringing additional renewable generation capacity to the Visayas grid. The project is expected to contribute to the region’s growing requirement for reliable and sustainable electricity.
The long-term agreement comes as the Philippine energy sector continues to balance electricity reliability, affordability, and sustainability. Renewable energy projects are playing an increasingly important role in diversifying the country’s power generation mix and supporting the transition toward cleaner energy.
The San Isidro project demonstrates how large-scale solar generation can complement existing power sources while adding renewable capacity to the electricity system. The 15-year agreements also provide a long-term framework for supplying renewable power and supporting the continued development of solar energy in the Philippines.
