Indian renewable energy firm Waaree Clean Energy Solutions (WCES) will enter the domestic specialty gases market to target semiconductor manufacturing amid the Indian government’s $13.2bn programme.
Semiconductor Mission 2.0 expands government support across India’s semiconductor supply chain, including fabs, advanced packaging, equipment and materials, with specialty chemicals and industrial gases also identified as key inputs.
WCES will build a specialty gases plant at GIDC Saykha, Gujarat, to meet growing demand across India’s semiconductor market.
Anuj Sharma, CEO of WCES, said, “[This] positions us to serve India’s fabs, OSAT and ATMP units, [and] advanced electronics manufacturers…from day one, with product on the ground.”
WCES is rolling out the new business in phases. It will include ultra-high-purity (UHP) oxygen production and UHP ammonia purification to semiconductor-grade standards, while UHP hydrogen is already commercially available.
It will also include a phosphine and hydrogen mixing plant with precision gas blends for doping and deposition processes, in addition to specialty gases warehousing.
WCES will design customised gas and chemical supply systems and nitrogen plants to support India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
According to market research, the value of India’s specialty gas market increased from $416.9m in 2025 to $447.9m in 2026, marking a 7.44% increase.
The market is expected to expand as government incentives support the development of India’s domestic semiconductor capacity, increasing demand for specialty gases.
The company brings clean energy and hydrogen experience to the expansion, including its electrolyser stack facility.
In February, WCES it would build, own, and operate a 2.5MW electrolyser plant in Uttar Pradesh to produce green hydrogen and oxygen for a local hydrogen supplier.
As a subsidiary of Mumbai-headquartered solar panel manufacturer, WCES also aims to supply specialty gases to the solar cell manufacturing industry through this expansion.
