AM Green Ammonia (India) Private Limited has been selected as the sole winner of the Asian lot in the H2Global auction conducted by HINT.CO GmbH (Hintco), securing a long-term agreement to supply Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) ammonia to Germany.
The award follows a competitive bidding process in which AM Green’s offer ranked first among the submissions received. Under the agreement, Hintco will purchase renewable ammonia from AM Green for 10 years at a minimum value of €585 million. Hintco may also purchase additional volumes using proceeds generated from the resale of green ammonia in the European market.
The renewable ammonia will be produced at AM Green’s Kakinada Phase 2 project in Andhra Pradesh, India, where the company is converting an existing natural gas-based ammonia and urea production complex into a facility using alkaline electrolysis technology.
Power for the production process will be supplied through AM Green’s round-the-clock renewable energy architecture backed by pumped-hydro storage, in line with European Union requirements.
The first deliveries to Germany are expected in 2029, with the renewable ammonia set to be shipped from Kakinada Seaports, which is located directly alongside the production facility.
The agreement advances AM Green’s plans to establish large-scale renewable ammonia production in India and expand exports of green molecules to Germany and other European markets. For H2Global, the award demonstrates the role of its double-auction mechanism in supporting early renewable hydrogen projects by providing long-term purchase certainty.
Mahesh Kolli, Group President and JMD of AM Green, said the competitive award validates the readiness of the company’s platform to deliver renewable ammonia from India at industrial scale. He added that the Kakinada facility is intended to supply customers across both European and Asian markets.
AM Green is developing low-carbon ammonia projects across multiple locations in India with a target of reaching 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia capacity. Its 1 MTPA Kakinada green ammonia facility is currently under construction and is planned as an RFNBO-compliant production facility.
Hintco is expected to publish the complete auction results before the end of 2026, together with results from other H2Global tenders covering African, North American, South American and Oceanian lots.
