Sono-Tek Corporation has secured three purchase orders worth approximately $7.19 million from an existing customer in the clean energy sector, marking the largest aggregate customer order in the company’s history.
The orders cover 10 production-scale ultrasonic coating systems that will be deployed across three geographic locations. The customer already uses Sono-Tek’s technology in an advanced solar manufacturing process, and the latest orders represent a significant expansion of those operations.
The systems are currently expected to be delivered primarily during Sono-Tek’s fiscal 2028, which begins on March 1, 2027, although delivery schedules may change depending on production requirements and customer timelines.
The orders also strengthen Sono-Tek’s forward backlog. Combined with a previously announced medical diagnostic production line order valued at more than $3.6 million, the company now has more than $10.79 million in backlog from the two programs, with the majority expected to be delivered during fiscal 2028.
Sono-Tek President and CEO Steve Harshbarger said the latest orders demonstrate how customers are scaling the company’s ultrasonic coating technology from process development into high-volume manufacturing. He added that the expansion across three locations reflects the growing adoption of Sono-Tek’s production systems.
The company is expanding its presence in the alternative energy market, where its ultrasonic coating systems are used in applications including next-generation solar cells, fuel cells, green hydrogen generation and carbon capture.
Sono-Tek develops ultrasonic coating systems for applying thin films across industries including alternative energy, microelectronics, medical devices, advanced manufacturing and research and development.
