Industrial gas major Air Liquide has “enhanced” over a third of its critical group processes with AI, with plans to make 95% of its global facilities autonomous by 2030.
Under the company’s new strategic plan for 2026-2030, it aims to stay ahead of major shifts in the industry, centrally AI deployment and optimisation.
The deployment of AI as an enterprise platform to maximise structural efficiency is one of the four key pillars Air Liquide is using to drive growth.
CEO François Jackow said, “We see significant room for further optimisation by leveraging big data and AI, advancing gas application, driving network densification and deploying continuous innovation.”
As part of the AI push, the company aims to transition 95% of its global facilities into autonomous, self-operating plants by 2030.
Using proprietary AI, the company’s units will run continuously at peak performance, with an objective to react 50% faster by 2030 to capture new real-time opportunities in volatile energy markets.
In engineering and technology, AI agents are expected to cut time by 25%, delivering high-precision proposals and predicting permitting and regulatory constraints ahead of time.
It comes as the group aims to improve its profit margin by between 4% and 6% by 2030, with active commercial management and operations, organisational streamlining, global structural efficiencies, and local efficiencies also set to play a role.
Matthieu Giard, Group Vice-President, overseeing the Americas, Digital and IT, Business Service Centres and Real Estate, said, “Underpinning all four pillars, AI-powered operations are a key transversal accelerator.”
