Singapore-based renewable energy developer Gurīn Energy has officially completed its first operational project in the Philippines, the 75-megawatt (MW) Palauig Solar Power Plant. The facility, spanning 80 hectares, is equipped with 136,363 advanced ground-mounted solar photovoltaic panels and is expected to generate clean electricity while offsetting 53,100 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to removing 11,500 gasoline-powered vehicles from the roads.

Strategic Partnerships for Clean Energy Supply
The Palauig Solar Power Plant, owned by Shizen Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Gurīn Energy, received project financing from UnionBank of the Philippines and support from partners, including Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) and Radio Veritas.

To ensure the efficient distribution of its renewable energy output, Gurīn Energy has signed a partnership with AboitizPower’s retail electricity units, Adventenergy Inc. and Adventpower Inc., securing a stable supply of clean power for commercial and industrial consumers.

Commitment to Renewable Energy and Community Engagement
Bob Driscoll, Chief Operating Officer of Gurīn Energy, highlighted the significance of the project, stating:

“The completion of the Palauig Solar Power Plant marks a milestone in our mission to transition Asia toward 100% renewable energy. We deeply appreciate the unwavering support from the communities in Palauig and extend our gratitude to our financial and operational partners who helped bring this project to life.”

Launch of the Cari Leviste Azores Visit Solar Education Program
In line with its commitment to sustainability and community development, Gurīn Energy has launched the Cari Leviste Azores Visit Solar Education Programme—an initiative offering immersive field experiences for public school students at the Palauig solar farm.

Set to welcome visitors starting October 2025, the free educational program aims to:

  • Educate students on renewable energy and its impact.
  • Enhance science education through real-world applications.
  • Inspire the next generation to pursue careers in clean energy and sustainability.

The program is named in honor of the late Cari Leviste Azores of the Leviste family, who played a pivotal role in the development of the solar project.

Joey Leviste Jr., Senior Advisor to Gurīn Energy and Chairman of Shizen Inc., emphasized the program’s significance:

“Through this initiative, we aim to inspire young Filipinos to explore careers in the clean energy sector. As the Philippines works toward increasing renewable energy’s share in the national power mix to 35% by 2030, attracting future talent to the industry is essential.”

With the Palauig Solar Power Plant now operational and its education initiative underway, Gurīn Energy reaffirms its commitment to advancing the Philippines’ renewable energy goals while fostering a new generation of sustainability leaders.
