The PNE Group has completed the sale of another large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project in South Africa, further strengthening its presence in the country’s renewable energy market. The project, located in the Free State province, has a planned nominal capacity of 250 MW and has been sold to a major South African independent power producer (IPP).
Following the transaction, PNE South Africa will continue to support the project’s development. The company will provide technical and project development expertise to the investor until the project reaches financial close.
Roland Stanze, Chief Operating Officer of PNE AG, said the transaction highlights the company’s continued success in developing and commercialising renewable energy projects in international growth markets. He noted that the sale demonstrates the capabilities of PNE’s local teams in identifying opportunities, developing attractive projects and bringing them to market.
Stanze also highlighted that PNE will remain involved in the project after the sale, contributing its expertise to support further development. The transaction reflects the company’s strategy of generating value from its extensive renewable energy project pipeline and selling projects at appropriate stages of development.
South Africa remains an important international market for the PNE Group. As of June 2026, the company’s project pipeline in the country included approximately 2,000 MW of solar PV capacity and 2,800 MW of wind energy projects.
The latest 250 MW project sale further demonstrates PNE’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy development activities in South Africa.
