NTPC Green Energy Limited Signs MoU With Bharat Light And Power To Accelerate Renewable Energy Development In India

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Bharat Light and Power Private Limited (BLP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 19, 2025, to support the advancement of green energy initiatives and contribute to the Government of India’s efforts toward achieving a carbon-neutral economy. This collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy solutions, particularly in the areas of green hydrogen and carbon management.

The MoU was formally exchanged at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi, between DMR Panda, Chief General Manager and Head of Hydrogen at NTPC, and T P Chopra, President and Chief Executive Officer of BLP. The signing took place in the presence of senior officials from both NGEL and BLP, emphasizing the strategic importance of this partnership.

As part of this agreement, NGEL and BLP will work together to explore the off-take of green hydrogen and its derivatives produced by NGEL and its affiliates for supply to third-party buyers. Additionally, the scope of the collaboration includes identifying potential opportunities for the sale of captured carbon or biogenic carbon generated by NGEL.

In alignment with its Net Zero commitments, NGEL, either independently or through its affiliates, will develop the necessary infrastructure to support green hydrogen projects. This will include setting up renewable energy projects and ensuring the smooth operation of these initiatives under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model.
