Indian electronics brand Micromax Informatics is expanding into the renewable energy sector with the launch of Startup Energy, a new venture focused on solar panel manufacturing. Partnering with China’s solar equipment maker Jinchen, the company aims to produce affordable, high-quality solar panels for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

As part of this initiative, Micromax has signed a strategic agreement with Jinchen to establish a 5GW advanced solar module manufacturing facility. The project will be executed in multiple phases, incorporating automation and high-efficiency production technologies to ensure cost-effective and sustainable solutions. The facility will leverage advanced precision engineering to enhance manufacturing capabilities.

Additionally, Startup Energy plans to collaborate with research and development (R&D) partners to explore next-generation solar technologies, focusing on improving energy efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Rajesh Agarwal, Managing Director of Micromax Informatics, emphasized that with Startup Energy, the company is leveraging its expertise to contribute to the renewable energy sector, making clean power more accessible, reliable, and cost-effective.

Micromax’s entry into solar energy aligns with India’s self-reliance mission and the government’s ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. With India’s installed solar capacity surpassing 72 GW as of 2023, the demand for locally manufactured, high-quality solar panels is growing—an opportunity that Startup Energy aims to capitalize on.
