Air Liquide to build €70m UHP air gases plant in Singapore

Industrial gas major Air Liquide will build a €70m ($79.8m) air separation unit in Singapore to supply ultra-high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, and argon to VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (VSMC), a joint venture formed by Taiwan’s Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and the Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors.

The plant will be located at the Tampines Water Fab Park, one of the country’s four key wafer fabrication hubs. Air Liquide has said it is increasing investment in these hubs to meet growing demands for semiconductor chips.

Semiconductor manufacturing accounts for more than 20% of Singapore’s manufacturing output.

Ronnie Chalmer, Vice-President at Air Liquide, overseeing the Asia Pacific region, said the company is proud to support VSMC, adding that the investment aligns with its strategic plan called ADVANCE.
