American Clean Power Association (ACP) Appoints Brett White As Vice President Of Markets and Transmission To Strengthen U.S. Clean Energy Policy Leadership

The American Clean Power Association (ACP) has announced the appointment of Brett White as its new Vice President of Markets and Transmission. In this position, White will lead ACP’s strategic work on electricity markets, transmission planning, generator interconnection, and key regulatory initiatives that underpin the country’s transition to a cleaner energy future.

White originally joined ACP in January 2026 as Deputy General Counsel, bringing with him more than 13 years of experience across federal energy regulation, wholesale markets, renewable energy policy, and utility oversight. Before joining the association, he served as Senior Vice President of Regulatory and Government Affairs at Pine Gate Renewables, where he shaped the company’s national regulatory and policy strategy across its utility-scale solar and energy storage portfolio.

JC Sandberg, ACP’s Chief Policy Officer, emphasised that White’s combination of industry knowledge, legal expertise, and regulatory insight makes him uniquely prepared to guide ACP’s efforts during a period of rapid evolution in the energy sector. With electricity demand rising and the need for expanded transmission infrastructure becoming increasingly urgent, Sandberg noted that White’s leadership will play a central role in advancing policies that support a modern, affordable, and reliable grid.

Prior to his time at Pine Gate Renewables, White built a strong foundation in regulatory and legal work through roles at the Edison Electric Institute, Wright & Talisman, P.C., and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Across these positions, he advised utilities, regional transmission organizations, and renewable developers on complex market design, interconnection reforms, and long-term transmission planning.

His contributions have shaped major FERC rulemakings and earned him recognition from national and industry media outlets such as MSNBC, Politico, E&E News, RTO Insider, and Utility Dive.White expressed enthusiasm for stepping into this leadership role at a pivotal moment in the nation’s energy landscape. He highlighted the importance of efficient electricity markets and robust transmission infrastructure in meeting growing energy needs and ensuring a resilient, accessible grid.

Looking ahead, he noted his commitment to collaborating with ACP members and stakeholders to develop practical, forward-looking solutions that strengthen America’s clean energy progress. White holds a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Vermont Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Vermont Law Review, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from Appalachian State University.
