Arevon Energy, Inc., a prominent U.S.-based energy developer, owner, and operator, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its 430 MWdc Kelso 1 & 2 Solar Projects in Scott County, Missouri. Arevon will own and manage the project long-term, with the first phase expected to start commercial operations by the end of 2025, and the second phase slated for early 2026.

This marks Arevon’s first utility-scale renewable energy project in Missouri. The over $500 million development is boosting economic activity in Scott County and surrounding areas. During peak construction, over 450 workers, mostly from the local community, will help build the project. Primoris Services Corporation’s Renewable Energy business is handling construction, providing engineering, procurement, and construction services. Local businesses, including restaurants, hotels, and shops, are also benefiting from the project. Once operational, Kelso Solar will contribute more than $34 million to local governments to support schools, infrastructure, and first responders over its multi-decade lifespan.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the project site, was attended by state officials, Scott County leaders, local landowners, project partners, and the Arevon team. “Kelso Solar marks Arevon’s entrance into Missouri and when operational, will boost the state’s installed solar capacity by almost 50 percent. This major project furthers Arevon’s growing presence in the Midwest region of the United States, which is a priority market for our company’s development activities,” said Kevin Smith, CEO. “Celebrating the project’s construction alongside our partners and stakeholders also gives us the opportunity to recognize the immense economic benefits the project provides. I am grateful to Scott County for its partnership as well as its leadership in expanding homegrown and cost-effective energy in the state.”
