Bajel Projects Signs Agreement with Egypt’s EETC for 500 kV Transmission Line Project

Bajel Projects Limited has formalised an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the construction of two contiguous sections—Lot 1 and Lot 5—of a 500 kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) in Egypt, strengthening its presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The agreement was signed in Cairo by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO of Bajel Projects Limited, in the presence of Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt, along with senior officials from both India and Egypt. The signing ceremony was also attended by Mona Rezk, Chairman of EETC, and Ahmed Fathy, Head of the Central Projects Sector at EETC.

The project falls under the company’s ultra-mega order category, with a value exceeding ₹400 crore. It forms part of Egypt’s national grid reinforcement programme aimed at strengthening the country’s high-voltage transmission network and improving reliable power evacuation to meet rising industrial and economic demand.

Commenting on the development, Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and CEO of Bajel Projects Limited, said:

“Winning these orders is a defining moment for Bajel Projects. Being entrusted with a 500 kV transmission corridor in the MENA region reflects the global confidence in our engineering capability, project execution rigour, and ability to deliver complex high-voltage infrastructure in international markets. This order strengthens our footprint in the MENA region.”

According to the company, the project further strengthens its position as an international engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor in the high-voltage transmission sector. The order complements Bajel Projects’ existing domestic order book and recent international project wins.

The company noted that the agreement builds on its growing presence in the MENA region, following the establishment of its 50:50 joint venture with Al Sharif Group in Saudi Arabia and the launch of its subsidiary, Bajel T & D Projects and Contracting, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Bajel Projects added that the presence of the Indian Ambassador at the signing ceremony underscores the strengthening economic relationship between India and Egypt and highlights the growing role of Indian engineering companies in supporting the region’s power infrastructure development.
