Belgian King Philippe has expressed keen interest in fostering Belgium’s participation in Vietnam’s renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects. The discussions took place during his official visit to Hanoi, where he met with Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong on Tuesday.
During their talks, King Philippe underscored Belgium’s commitment to deepening collaboration in Vietnam’s energy sector, particularly in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. He emphasized Belgium’s expertise in green energy and its willingness to support Vietnam’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
President Cuong welcomed Belgium’s interest in Vietnam’s energy landscape, highlighting the country’s focus on renewable energy expansion and energy security. He encouraged Belgian companies to increase investments in green energy, digital transformation, and high-tech infrastructure.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening energy partnerships through diplomatic exchanges and sectoral cooperation. They also discussed mechanisms to enhance investment in sustainable energy projects under the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement.
As part of the visit, the two sides signed cooperation agreements, including commitments related to climate change and sustainable energy initiatives.
King Philippe’s visit, which runs from April 1–5, includes engagements in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where he is set to participate in discussions on energy collaboration and sustainability efforts.
