Danish green energy firm Bigadan has inaugurated its third carbon dioxide plant in Denmark.
The Herning Bioenergi plant can capture and liquefy approximately 12,000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 per year, complementing facilities in Horsens and Kalundborg Bioenergy.
Bigadan – which has forged a “lasting partnership” with Nippon Gases – can now deliver more than 56,000 tonnes of CO2 annually for storage and utilisation.
CEO Henrik Vestergaard Laursen said CO2 capture gives it an “extra value stream” that expands its business. Biogenic CO2 is captured from agricultural and industrial residue biogas production.
It’s been a busy period of expansion for the company, following the inauguration of the , which is expected to capture 27,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Towards 2030, Bigadan aims to capture up to 200,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
